CCB FAQS

Dear Parents and Students,

Due to Government measures, here are the main issues affecting the education sector.

  • June holidays has been brought forward to the period 5th May 2020 to 1st June 2020.

  • CCB Period has been extended to 1st June 2020 (Classroom Teaching or home tuition is not allowed during this period)

  • Classroom Teaching is still not allowed during Phase ONE after CCB Period. So online teaching continues in June 2020.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions from Parents and Students.

Thank you.

Q: CAN I TEMPORARILY STOP THE TUITION DURING THIS COVID CIRCUIT BREAKER PERIOD?

A: Yes, you may do so. But do take note that Math Coffee is unable to reserve the timeslot for you. We will release the slots to others who are able to make it. When classroom teaching resumes, you will have to check with us on the next available slot for your child.

Q: DO WE GET DISCOUNT FOR THE TUITION FEE SINCE IT IS ONLINE TEACHING AND NOT CLASSROOM TEACHING?

A: No, there will be no discount given. Sorry to inform that Math Coffee will still charge the same rate as classroom teaching, reason being the reduced number of students per session.

We used to conduct classroom teaching with 4 students, but for online teaching, we had to reduce each session to either 2 or 3 students. Overall, teaching hours are increased. And due to online teaching, a lot of additional administrative works are expected such as consolidating the students’ work via phones to computers.

Math Coffee wants to maintain our quality despite teaching online. The extra time spent making this happen is way beyond imagination. Therefore, we are very thankful to both parents and students who are supportive and trust Math Coffee in this!

Q: I AM WORRIED THAT MY CHILD CANNOT FOCUS DURING ONLINE TEACHING AND IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF LESSONS.

A: Math Coffee will make sure that students focus in class (even if that involves scolding over Zoom Meeting Session). We also reduced the number of students (to a maximum of 3) to ensure students are not neglected during online teaching. However, some classes might have up to 4 students but we try to keep that to a maximum of once a month for each student.

Q: IS IT SAFE FOR THE TEACHING TO BE CONDUCTED VIA ZOOM MEETINGS? I HEARD THAT THERE ARE SOME SECURITY ISSUES WITH ZOOM.

A: Security issues happen because meetings were conducted without setting passwords. We are thankful for ZOOM’s effective solutions for these problems. They have made it compulsory for the ZOOM meetings to have passwords and they added new features to the software by adding “SECURITY” button.

With this new “SECURITY” button, we are allowed to lock the meeting once we start the lesson. No one else can enter the teaching session once the “room” is locked.

With these added security measures by ZOOM, rest assured that it is absolutely safe to conduct the teaching via ZOOM.

Q: WE PREFER ONLINE TEACHING. CAN WE CONTINUE ONLINE TEACHING INSTEAD OF RESUMING CLASSROOM WHEN CCB PERIOD IS OVER?

A: Yes, you may opt to do so. Though Math Coffee would still prefer to see the students. =)

But do take note that timeslots might be different from your initial slots because we have to make the best arrangements to maintain good quality teaching.

We would most likely conduct a mix of online teaching and classroom teaching in the same timeslot as there are very limited free slots to conduct full online teaching.
